ROBOTICS

We, The Mechanical Bulls, are a group of students, mentors, and parents from Smithtown, New York who are dedicated to spreading the message of FIRST within our community. The team was founded in September 2001, and in every winter since, has competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition under the identification number 810. Each January, we receive a game. Then, in six and a half weeks, we have to design, engineer, construct, and program a robot that can outperform other teams’ robots in this game. Each March, we participate in competitions, sometimes traveling several states away to compete! The team is open to all high school students in the area. Email join@smithtownrobotics.com if you would like to become a Mechanical Bull!

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Smithtown High School’s Early Childhood and Nursery classes have been successfully running a fully operational pre-school for over twenty years. Our program provides a pre-school for the children of the community every March – June, two days a week. The high school students work one on one with the children as well as in group settings. The pre-school children are taught based on their individual needs. They get a one on one lesson every week! The children will also experience arts and crafts, free play, healthy snacks, reading time, and games.
